VOLUNTEER COSTA RICA:
Volunteer Costa Rica is a program designed for everyone, including High School and College students (coming with a Chaperone), professionals and others who are interested in living in Costa Rica while working in social interest projects such as female organizations, non profit organizations, associations, foundations, and communities dedicated to develop various projects related to:
♣ Agro-tourist project and conservation of resources
♣ Artisan production and conservation of natural resources
♣ Forest conservation and restoration
♣ Research and protection of turtles
♣ Conservation and environmental education project
♣ Factory of artisan production from residual wood
♣ Farming Administration-National Parks maintenance
♣ Protection of wildlife refugees
♣ Teaching English in Middle and High schools in rural communities.
♣ Many others!
These projects are located at friendly environments, rich in landscape, surrounded by warm people willing to share with the volunteers.
The Program allows participation between 1 and 18 months. Due to the nature of some programs, participation in seasonal (mainly those related with wildlife migrations).
Eligibility
♣ Hold at least an intermediate level of Spanish language
♣ Be at least 18 years of age (some special group programs are available for those under 18 years old).
Program includes
♣ Temporary work permit (for stays of more than 3 months)
♣ Airport transfer in.
♣ Two nights at a downtown hostel.
♣ An orientation session in Costa Rica.
♣ Participant’s manual.
♣ Volunteer work up to 18 months and Volunteer placement
♣ All the projects offer affordable accommodation usually with a family involved at the specific project.
♣ 24-hour emergency assistance during the length of the program.
♣ By request, at the end of the program, the organization presents the student a Letter of Recommendation detailing the activities developed by the volunteer during his or her stay.
♣ OTEC Volunteer Program will present with a certificate of participation once the program is concluded, after filling an evaluation
Price per person:
♣ From 0 to 6 months: $550
♣ From 6 to 12 months: $750
♣From 12 to 18 months: $950
♣ From 18 to 24 months: $1150
Programs not include
♣ Transportation from and to your country of origin, internal transports, personal expenses
♣ Health insurance (Mandatory).
♣ Any other service not mentioned above.
For those candidates whose Spanish skills do not fulfill the intermediate level, OTEC offers and Intensive Spanish Course, to be taken previous to project commencement.
